Water Illumination Expands into New Facility to Support Product Development
Lake Forest, California — January 2025
Water Illumination Inc., a University of California, Riverside spin-off developing chemical-free UV-based PFAS destruction technology, is proud to announce its graduation from the UC Riverside business incubator and relocation to a new commercial facility in Lake Forest, California.
The new site provides 1,500 square feet of combined warehouse and office space, establishing the foundation for in-house product assembly, prototype development, and pilot-scale system integration. This move marks an important transition for Water Illumination—from a research-focused startup to an independent company building its first full PFAS destruction unit.
Graduating from the UC Riverside incubator represents a major milestone in Water Illumination’s evolution from academic innovation to early commercialization. The company continues to collaborate with UC Riverside researchers and local water agencies while advancing its goal of delivering scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective PFAS destruction solutions for real-world applications.
